Anybody that claims they know what will happen with certainty is either misguided or intentionally lying.

If you want a guess, a lot more prospective buyers of minis got wiped out than pets that would have gone back up for resale and actually exchanged hands.

Prices won't go up because the items weren't on the market, so the market has not been affected. They were being stored on accounts so the owners could gloat over them. One banned botter said he had a Vizu but did he really? And does it make any difference? It wasn't being sold.

I can claim with certainty that the game will go on! Unless a meteor falls on ANet's servers or something. I do think you've got a point about there being a little less demand, at least for the high end stuff.

This is an interesting topic to ponder. There's no obvious logic as to what should or will happen, or if anything will happen at all. What I am pretty sure about is that an immense amount of wealth was removed from the game, both in rare items (high-end unded minis, the EL hench I've seen mentioned here) and cash and ectos.

For legit owners of the remaining rare items, who don't intend on parting with them, it must be nice knowing your rare item just got rarer.

Did the economy really get screwed up when they started banning the dupers who bought all those rare minis?

Not really. We've already had some of the super rare items removed from the game already from those bans. Judging from past experience, I doubt we will see much of an impact. Sure there might be more "panic mode" from individuals in threads like this, but I don't see much of an impact (and if there is one... I really don't care).

OF COURSE it was.. I remember buying an unded. Naga for 160e and after 1 year (when the duping related incident occured) the price went to 1400e... Just accept it that banning 3700 of ACTIVE traders will affect the game...

I'm standing next to the rare material trader as we speak. Ecto is at 7500g at the trader.

[edit]waited 5 minutes....checked trader again and now it's 8000g. Still no sign of rising ecto prices unless you consider this to be a rise in which case I'd like to inform you it's been this way for a while now.

Lately I had only seen it at max 7,5k, yesterday it was at 9k. Maybe I didn't check frequently enough

A majority of the 3700 were mules or bots considering each person that was banned had at least 3 accounts. The banning probably took out maybe 500 active players or less because let's face it, most of them were afk anyway.

No noticeable affect will be seen. The people banned were a drop in the bucket of people who farm stuff.

it means almost nothing, the majority of bots were gold farmers or PvP interrupt botters.
People didn't store their money on those accounts

You have probably missed the fact they have been banning all accounts used by the people who botted, not only those on which the bots were actively used on. While there may have been cases where some of their accounts survived, I doubt it's the ones which they transfered significant wealth to.

Update: NOTHINGS CHANGED.

Economy hasn't changed/crashed like all the botters who got caught and banned hoped for.
